What Info is local, what is in the "Cloud"

What information is collected about your house?

  1. Geolocation - used for sunrise/sunset

the system uses the strength of the nearest WiFi Access Points to determine the location, for sunrise/sunset.   This info is accurate to under 20 meters, so pretty much to the street address.    This is the same info that your phone uses for mapping.   This info is used for scheduling, therefore, our servers do know the street address within about 30 meters.   This Lat / Long info is stored in our cloud servers in two locations, there is an opt-out when the system starts, however, your contractor may have opted in during house construction.   Contact us to have all information deleted.

  2. me.atxled.com - use for local access to the Web Application

in order to quickly access your control hub, we use a redirection (
boomerang ) from me.atxled.com back to your hub, therefore, the cloud knows the LAN mac and IP address of your hub.   No other network info is stored

  3. RSSI and WiFi , quality reporting for customer support.

the system reports the strength of your wifi connection, and the latency of the internet connection - this is a by product of our connection test ( if the connection fails, the hub enters a configuration mode autonomously.   The list of qualify metrics is here:

RSSI of the nearest AP in use
    Ping response times
    Main system voltage
    Secondary system voltage
    Software version, firmware version
    DALI bus voltages and current
    Wattage of electricity in use
Color temperature last set to bus devices
    Uptime
    LAN address
    Location

  4. Light states are NOT uploaded to our cloud - only the total power.  Information provided to Alexa and Google is according to the privacy statements of their respective services, this might include the on/off state of each light

  5. System backups.  The names of your devices, any schedules or macros, are stored in the cloud each time there is a change.  This allows you or us to restore all the data in the event of an outage.  You can disable all backups.  Contact us to have all backups deleted.

  6. No LAN diagnostics are provided - the hub is not discovering any devices on the LAN network.   LAN MAC addresses will appear in the ARP table, and these are not exposed in any way.

  7. Remote access.   During construction, various contractors may have had access to the control system.   Therefore, please disable the remote access once you have moved into your house.  This is done by disabling "Dataplicity" from the admin page.   You can also disable all these other cloud reporting features as well.   You will need to create a new Dataplicity account in order to have remote tech support in the future.  No other VPN is enabled.
    - first remove any key that is already installed
    - go to dataplicity.com and enter your email address, they will create a key
    - enter that key into the field in Admin

  8. Controller password - a default password is used during construction.  Please change this password, preferably using the system command line interface.

  9. Authentication.  At boot time, the ZWD application will validate the MAC of the system via the ATX Authentication portal.

  10. Software updating.   On request, you can download a new version.  Your MAC address of the hub will be used as part of this request.

  11. Ping response times.  the system uses "ping" access to determine that the internet is working and to change to "AP" mode if the internet is down.

  12. Alexa and Google etc.   If you enable the Alexa and Google interfaces, we will authenticate your request with their services.   We follow their security protocols to allow your Alexa and Google applications to connect via web services to your house for remote control.

  13. We have removed all applications from the Hub that are not critical to basic operation.   To the best of our knowledge, the hub has no malware.   We recommend that you run ClamAV to insure there is no issue.
