SmartThings Setup

Connecting ATX LED hub to the Samsung Smartthings hub

  1. Purchase the SmartThings from Amazon for $70   https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCRCD93/

  2. Have the ATX LED Hub already running and lights addressed in the home.  Go to me.atxled.com to complete that setup. Make sure to uncheck "Hide from hue" box under each light you want to control from the Smartthings hub.

  3. When logged into the ATX LED Hub - please go to the Admin page and click on update, and write down the IP address of the hub.

  4. Every switch and group has 2 names.  One is the installation description and the other the name for use in apps.  If you do not want to use an app to control a load, you should leave the Hue name blank
    • Go to the Groups page - Only name one member of the group.   Groups labeled "Group #" will not appear in the App
    • Go to the DALI Devices page.  Name the switches with the friendly names you wish to use from the app.   Note: the default name is for your installation notes, not for SmartThings
    • Open each Switch that you want to control and set the "Hue" name if you want it to appear in the App.  If the switch is part of a group - do not give it a name.

  5. Click on http://me.atxled.com/scan to sync the device names with the Hue emulator that will connect with Smart Things

  6.  Plug in the Samsung smart things hub via their provided power brick.

  7. Download the ‘SmartThings’ app and create an account / log in.

  8. Select + icon / add device in the app & select the SmartThings hub.  Follow onscreen instructions to set up & connect the SmartThings hub to the home wifi or plug the hub into home wireless router via ethernet cable. Additionally, the app may automatically recognize the hub and show a prompt to set it up - this is also fine.

  9. After hub is set up, select + icon – Device – search ‘hue’ – go lamp - start – select SmartThings hub & desired room - wait for list to populate with lights – done.
  10. If / When you see this screen

simply wait about 90 seconds - there is no button to push, it happens automatically

  11. If lights do not populate repeat step 8 and 10

  12. You can now manage your house from anywhere with Alexa and Google.
