Control4 Integration

Control4 to DALI link

This walk-through will help you set up Control4 to DALI integration.

New in 2025 - DT8 SDDP support:

Native ATX LED Driver - download here:  ATX LED Control4 Driver

Prerequisites

  • AL-DALI-PI.  This is our DALI bus master that is built on a Raspberry Pi and our custom DALI interface board.  It presents a simple user interface for
assigning names to DALI short addresses, and assigned DALI short addresses to virgin devices.  See the DALI Pi info here

  • AL-DALI-PI should already be configured and able to control the system (See this article for additional help connecting the AL-DALI-PI to your network)
  • You will note that ATX LED derives its integration by emulating the Philips Hue protocols.

  • The Hue App should be set up and functional (See this article for help configuring Hue)

  • before you can connect to control4 - you will need to follow this link: http://me.atxled.com/scan - this takes the names of the lights and sets them up in our Hue emulation

  • ATX LED DALI drivers or any DALI device can be activated using this method, DMX devices can be controlled also if you have a DALI to DMX converter ( AL-DALI-DMX)

Setup Steps

    1. Install the Hue Bridge driver in Control4 Composer

    2. Add the Hue Bridge driver to the project

    3. Configure the Hue Bridge driver with the IP of the AL-DALI-PI on the "Properties" tab and click "Set."
NOTE: It is highly recommended that you reserve an IP for the AL-DALI-PI so that it doesn't change addresses at a later time

    4. On the "Actions" tab, click "Link with Bridge." You should be able to check the "Lua" tab for confirmation that the link succeeded.

    5. Click "Show Lights Available" and then check the "Lua" tab to confirm that all expected lights came across from the Hue Emulation.

    6. Next, you will add one Light driver per light that you wish to integrate with Control4.  The steps for this are to add the appropriate driver, name the light/zone and then select the appropriate Hue address in the properties of that driver configuration.  You will be able to confirm the name from the Hue Emulator in the "Lamp Name" field of the driver.
See Driver Documentation in Composer for more details.
