Hue App Setup

This walk-through will help you set up Hue integration.  This is the basis for all other 3rd party control and integration and must be completed first.

Prerequisites

  • AL-DALI-PI should already be configured and able to control the system (See this article for additional help connecting the AL-DALI-PI)
  • For each Device that you want to control by the App - be sure that each one is not 'Hidden from Hue"
  • Access http://me.atxled.com/ and insure that you have control of the lighting from a computer, phone or tablet on the same network.
Visit the Admin page and write down the IP address of the ATX LED Hub
  • Every switch and group has 2 names.  One is the installation description and the other the name for use in apps.  If you do not want to use an app to control a load, you should leave the Hue name blank.
  • Go to the DALI Devices page.  Name the switches with the friendly names you wish to use from the app.   Note: the default name is for your installation notes.
Open each Switch that you want to control and set the Hue name if you want it to appear in Hue.  If the switch is part of a group - do not give it a name.
  • Go to the Groups page - Only name one member of the group.
  • After assigning or changing names, click on "Scan to Hue" to prepare for app control Scan to Hue

Setup Steps

  1. Install the Philips Hue App if you intend to use Hue locally only - if you want to control your lights while away from home, please stop now, and use the SmartThings Hub
    1. Apple App Store
    2. Google Play Store

  2. Open the Hue App - It should automatically begin searching for a Hue Bridge (emulated by the AL-DALI-PI).
If the app does not automatically detect the Bridge, please make sure that you are on the same network as the AL-DALI-PI and that it is accessible from http://me.atxled.com/  If required, you can manually enter the IP address of the ATX LED hub from above.   ( If prompted to select square or round hub - select round)
    1

  3. Once the App detects the bridge, you should see an initial room listed similar to:

    2

  4. You should now be able to control the lights all together by clicking the slider.
NOTE: If any lights are missing, you can force the ATX LED system to refresh the list by navigating to "Hue" menu from the Control Panel or clicking to Scan to Hue

  5. (Optional) You can create rooms and zones that make it more convenient to control different lighting scenes.  Clicking the 3-dot menu in the upper right will lead you to the "Rooms & Zones" screen where you can click "Create Room" or "Create Zone" (See the app for details on when to use Zones/Rooms). On the last screen you will then give your room a Name, Icon, and select the lights that belong to that room/zone.    For troubleshooting - see ( https://atxled.com/Hue/ )
